Ingredients
For the Fritters:
-
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
-
1/3 cup granulated sugar
-
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
-
1/2 teaspoon salt
-
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
-
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
-
2/3 cup milk
-
2 large eggs
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
2 tablespoons melted butter
-
1 1/2 cups peeled, diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work great)
For the Glaze:
-
1 cup powdered sugar
-
1-2 tablespoons milk
-
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
-
Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
-
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
-
Add Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, vanilla, and melted butter. Pour into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
-
Fold in Apples: Gently fold in the diced apples. The batter will be thick.
-
Scoop and Bake: Drop spoonfuls of batter onto the baking sheet, spacing a couple inches apart. Slightly flatten with the back of a spoon.
-
Bake: Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
-
Make the Glaze: While fritters bake, whisk together glaze ingredients in a small bowl until smooth.
-
Glaze and Cool: Let fritters cool slightly, then drizzle with glaze. Serve warm or at room temp.
Notes
-
For extra apple flavor, toss the apples in a little cinnamon and sugar before folding into the batter.
-
Add chopped nuts or a pinch of clove for variation.
-
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days, or freeze and reheat as needed.
