Description

These Baked Apple Fritters are soft, fluffy, and filled with warm cinnamon-spiced apples. No frying needed—just pop them in the oven for a healthier twist on the traditional favorite. Drizzled with a simple glaze, they’re perfect for breakfast, brunch, or an afternoon snack.

Ingredients

For the Fritters:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 2/3 cup milk

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

  • 1 1/2 cups peeled, diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work great)

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 1-2 tablespoons milk

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it.

  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

  3. Add Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, vanilla, and melted butter. Pour into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

  4. Fold in Apples: Gently fold in the diced apples. The batter will be thick.

  5. Scoop and Bake: Drop spoonfuls of batter onto the baking sheet, spacing a couple inches apart. Slightly flatten with the back of a spoon.

  6. Bake: Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.

  7. Make the Glaze: While fritters bake, whisk together glaze ingredients in a small bowl until smooth.

  8. Glaze and Cool: Let fritters cool slightly, then drizzle with glaze. Serve warm or at room temp.

Notes

  • For extra apple flavor, toss the apples in a little cinnamon and sugar before folding into the batter.

  • Add chopped nuts or a pinch of clove for variation.

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days, or freeze and reheat as needed.
