Description

Baked Crunchy Hot Honey Chicken is a healthier twist on fried chicken, combining a crispy baked coating with a sweet and spicy hot honey drizzle for a flavorful and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups cornflakes, crushed
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Cooking spray or olive oil spray
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place a wire rack on top.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add chicken and marinate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
  3. In another bowl, mix crushed cornflakes, panko breadcrumbs, and cayenne pepper.
  4. Remove chicken from marinade, letting excess drip off. Press into cornflake mixture, coating both sides thoroughly.
  5. Place chicken on the wire rack. Lightly spray tops with cooking spray.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until chicken is cooked through and coating is golden and crispy.
  7. While chicken bakes, combine honey, hot sauce, and butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir until melted and combined.
  8. Drizzle hot honey over chicken before serving, or serve on the side as a dip.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, toast the cornflakes slightly before using.
  • Adjust hot sauce amount to your spice preference.
  • Chicken thighs can be used instead of breasts if preferred.
