Description

Baked Crunchy Hot Honey Chicken is a flavorful and crispy dish featuring oven-baked chicken coated in a crunchy breadcrumb crust and drizzled with a sweet and spicy hot honey glaze—perfect for an easy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into strips
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 23 tsp hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place a wire rack on top. Spray with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, mix buttermilk, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add chicken and marinate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for more flavor).
  3. In another bowl, mix panko, Parmesan (if using), and olive oil or melted butter until coated.
  4. Remove chicken from marinade and dredge in breadcrumb mixture, pressing to adhere.
  5. Place coated chicken on the prepared rack and bake for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  6. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, warm honey and hot sauce over low heat. Stir in red pepper flakes if desired.
  7. Drizzle hot honey over baked chicken just before serving or serve on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 12–15 minutes for an even crispier version.
  • Adjust hot sauce and red pepper flakes based on spice preference.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, slaw, or over waffles for a fun twist.
