- 1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into strips
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2–3 tsp hot sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place a wire rack on top. Spray with cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, mix buttermilk, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add chicken and marinate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for more flavor).
- In another bowl, mix panko, Parmesan (if using), and olive oil or melted butter until coated.
- Remove chicken from marinade and dredge in breadcrumb mixture, pressing to adhere.
- Place coated chicken on the prepared rack and bake for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, warm honey and hot sauce over low heat. Stir in red pepper flakes if desired.
- Drizzle hot honey over baked chicken just before serving or serve on the side for dipping.
Notes
- Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 12–15 minutes for an even crispier version.
- Adjust hot sauce and red pepper flakes based on spice preference.
- Serve with mashed potatoes, slaw, or over waffles for a fun twist.
