Ingredients

Units Scale

Ripe Bananas:

  • 2 to 3 ripe bananas (mashed, about 1 cup)

Butter:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)

Sugar:

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

Egg:

  • 1 large egg (beaten)

Vanilla Extract:

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Baking Essentials:

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Optional Add-Ins:

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Banana Mixture: In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. Stir in the melted butter. Add sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  3. Add Dry Ingredients: Sprinkle baking soda and salt over the mixture. Stir in the flour and cinnamon (if using) until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Optional Add-Ins: Fold in nuts or chocolate chips gently, if desired.
  5. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 55–65 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool and Serve: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • This banana bread is best made with overripe bananas.
  • It can be wrapped and frozen for up to 2 months.
  • Add a streusel topping for extra texture if desired.
