Description

This recipe features a savory blend of seasoned ground beef, rice, and cheese, all wrapped inside crescent roll dough molded into skull shapes and baked to golden perfection.
Ingredients
Scale
Meat and Filling
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 packet taco seasoning (or 2 tablespoons homemade blend)
- 1/3 cup water
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
Dough and Preparation
- 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough (or pizza dough)
- Nonstick spray for molds
Optional Toppings
- Sour cream
- Salsa
- Guacamole
- Chopped cilantro
Instructions
- Prepare the Oven and Molds: Preheat your oven to 375°F and lightly spray skull-shaped baking molds with nonstick spray to prevent sticking.
- Sauté Aromatics: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the finely diced onion and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes until softened. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Cook Ground Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet and brown thoroughly, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess grease once cooked.
- Season the Meat: Stir in the taco seasoning and water, then simmer the mixture for 5 minutes to blend flavors. Remove from heat afterward.
- Mix Filling: Incorporate the cooked rice and shredded cheese into the meat mixture until evenly combined.
- Prepare Dough in Molds: Unroll the crescent roll dough and press it carefully into each skull mold, covering the sides and bottom with a slight dough overhang for sealing.
- Fill and Seal: Spoon the beef, rice, and cheese filling into each mold lined with dough. Fold the excess dough over the top to seal the burrito skull completely.
- Bake: Place molds in the oven and bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the dough turns golden brown and cooked through.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the burrito skulls to cool slightly before carefully removing them from the molds. Serve warm with optional toppings such as sour cream, salsa, guacamole, or chopped cilantro.
Notes
- Substitute fillings with shredded chicken, black beans, or sautéed vegetables for variety.
- Using pizza dough instead of crescent rolls can provide a sturdier wrap.
- These burrito skulls freeze well and can be reheated easily for future meals.
