Description

A simple and delicious dessert made by layering spiced apples, caramel, and cake mix, then baking until golden and bubbly. Perfect for fall or any time you crave a warm, comforting treat.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 (21 oz) cans apple pie filling
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce, plus more for drizzling
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spread apple pie filling evenly in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg over the apple filling and drizzle with caramel sauce.
  4. Evenly sprinkle dry cake mix over the top of the apple mixture.
  5. Pour melted butter evenly over the cake mix, covering as much as possible.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with additional caramel sauce and top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if desired.

Notes

  • Try using spice cake mix for extra autumn flavor.
  • Chopped pecans or walnuts make a great crunchy topping.
  • Can be made ahead and reheated before serving.
