Description

Carne Asada is a flavorful Mexican grilled steak marinated in citrus, garlic, and spices, then seared to perfection—ideal for tacos, burritos, bowls, or served on its own.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds flank or skirt steak
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/3 cup orange juice (about 1 orange)
  • 1/4 cup lime juice (about 2 limes)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a bowl or zip-top bag, whisk together olive oil, orange juice, lime juice, garlic, cilantro, cumin, chili powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Place steak in the marinade, cover, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or up to overnight.
  3. Preheat grill or grill pan to high heat. Remove steak from marinade and let excess drip off.
  4. Grill steak for 4–6 minutes per side, depending on thickness and desired doneness.
  5. Remove from heat and let rest for 5–10 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.
  6. Serve with tortillas, rice, beans, or use in tacos and burritos.
