Description

These Charred Sugar Snap Peas are a quick and flavorful side dish or snack that’s perfect for any occasion. With a hint of sesame and citrus, these blistered snap peas are both healthy and delicious.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Sugar Snap Peas:

  • 12 ounces sugar snap peas (trimmed)

Additional Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice or rice vinegar (optional for brightness)

Instructions

  1. Heat the Pan: Heat a large skillet or cast iron pan over medium-high heat until very hot.
  2. Season Snap Peas: Toss sugar snap peas with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Add them to the pan in a single layer and let cook undisturbed for 2-3 minutes until blistered and charred on one side.
  3. Cook: Stir and cook for another 2 minutes until crisp-tender and lightly charred all over.
  4. Finish: Remove from heat and sprinkle with sesame seeds and a splash of lemon juice or rice vinegar if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try adding minced garlic or a drizzle of toasted sesame oil.
  • These make a great side dish or snack.
