Description

Delightfully flaky and sweet, these Cinnamon Cream Cheese Pastry Puffs combine buttery biscuit dough with a smooth cinnamon-spiced cream cheese filling. Perfect as a cozy breakfast treat or afternoon snack, they bake to golden perfection, topped with a crunchy sugar coating and an optional sweet glaze for extra indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Pastry

  • 1 (12 oz) tube Grands!® Jr. Golden Layers Butter Tastin’ Biscuits
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)
  • Coarse sugar (for sprinkling)

Optional Glaze

  • Powdered sugar (as needed)
  • Milk (as needed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare baking sheet: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a baking mat to ensure easy cleanup and prevent sticking.
  2. Mix filling: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and cinnamon. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well blended, creating a creamy cinnamon filling.
  3. Flatten biscuits: Take each biscuit and gently flatten it into a 4×3-inch rectangle using your hands or a rolling pin. This will create a larger surface to hold the filling.
  4. Add filling: Spoon a heaping tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture into the center of each flattened biscuit, distributing evenly among all.
  5. Fold and shape: Fold the long sides of the biscuit inward over the filling, then tuck the ends underneath. Place each pastry seam-side down onto the prepared baking sheet to keep them sealed while baking.
  6. Apply egg wash and sugar: Beat the large egg in a small bowl and brush the tops of the folded pastries lightly. Then sprinkle coarse sugar on top to add a crunchy, sweet finish.
  7. Bake: Bake pastries in the preheated oven for about 12 minutes or until they turn golden brown and puffed up beautifully.
  8. Cool and glaze: Allow the pastries to cool slightly on a wire rack. For extra sweetness, mix powdered sugar and milk to create a simple glaze and drizzle over the warm pastries just before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easy mixing and smooth filling.
  • Use coarse sugar for topping to achieve a crunchy texture and sparkling appearance.
  • Feel free to customize the filling by adding a dash of vanilla extract or a pinch of nutmeg for extra flavor.
  • The optional glaze adds sweetness and a glossy finish but can be omitted for a less sweet option.
  • Pastries are best enjoyed warm but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
