Description

Classic Ambrosia Salad is a timeless, creamy fruit salad made with a mix of juicy fruits, marshmallows, and coconut, all folded into whipped topping. It’s a sweet, nostalgic treat perfect for holidays, potlucks, or backyard barbecues.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 can (15 oz) mandarin oranges, drained
  • 1 can (20 oz) pineapple chunks or tidbits, drained
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 1/2 cups whipped topping (Cool Whip)
  • 1/2 cup maraschino cherries, halved and drained
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, gently fold together mandarin oranges, pineapple, cherries, coconut, marshmallows, and nuts if using.
  2. Add sour cream and whipped topping, and gently mix until all ingredients are well combined and coated.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to blend and marshmallows to soften.
  4. Stir gently before serving. Garnish with extra cherries or coconut if desired.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream.
  • Can be made a day ahead—just keep refrigerated.
  • Drain fruit well to prevent sogginess.
