For the Meatballs:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs

- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup milk
For the Sauce:
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Make the Meatballs: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic, parsley, egg, salt, pepper, and milk. Mix until well combined.
- Form the Meatballs: Shape the mixture into 1-2 inch meatballs.
- Cook the Meatballs: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides, then remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, sauté the onion and garlic until softened. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
- Simmer: Return the meatballs to the skillet, spooning the sauce over them. Cover and simmer for about 30 minutes, until the meatballs are cooked through.
- Serve: Serve the meatballs and sauce over spaghetti or in a crusty roll for a delicious meatball sub.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a splash of red wine to the sauce.
- These meatballs also freeze well, so consider making a double batch for later.
