Description

Creamy beef and shells is an easy weeknight dinner made with ground beef, pasta shells, and a rich, cheesy cream sauce. It’s kid-friendly, quick to make, and perfect for cozy nights when you need a filling meal fast.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz medium pasta shells

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (more to taste)

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup beef broth

  • 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1/2 cup sour cream or heavy cream

Instructions

  • Cook the pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.

  • Add onion and garlic to the skillet. Cook for 2–3 minutes until softened.

  • Stir in Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper. Sprinkle flour over the beef and stir to coat evenly. Cook for 1 minute.

  • Slowly pour in beef broth and milk, stirring constantly. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook until the sauce thickens, about 3–4 minutes.

  • Reduce heat to low and stir in cheddar cheese, Parmesan, and sour cream. Mix until smooth and creamy.

  • Add the cooked pasta and stir until fully coated in the sauce.

  • Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • Swap in ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.

  • Add cooked spinach, mushrooms, or peas for extra veggies.

  • Leftovers reheat well—just add a splash of milk when warming up.
