Description
This crockpot cinnamon applesauce is warm, comforting, and made with just a few simple ingredients. No added sugar needed—just sweet apples, a little cinnamon, and a splash of lemon. Let the slow cooker do all the work while your kitchen smells amazing!
Ingredients
-
3 pounds apples (about 6-8 medium; use a mix like Fuji, Honeycrisp, and Gala)
-
1/2 cup water
-
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
-
1 tablespoon lemon juice
-
Optional: 1-2 tablespoons brown sugar or maple syrup (if you like it sweeter)
Instructions
-
Peel, core, and roughly chop the apples.
-
Add apples to the crockpot along with water, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
-
Stir to combine. Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until apples are soft and falling apart.
-
For chunky applesauce, mash with a potato masher. For smooth applesauce, blend with an immersion blender or regular blender (in batches).
-
Taste and stir in brown sugar or maple syrup if desired.
-
Let cool, then store in the fridge for up to 1 week or freeze for longer.
Notes
-
No need to peel the apples if you plan to blend the sauce super smooth.
-
Add a pinch of nutmeg or cloves for extra spice.
-
This also works great with pears or a mix of apples and pears.
