Description

This Crockpot Pierogi Casserole with Sausage is a cozy, cheesy comfort dish made easy in your slow cooker. Frozen pierogies are layered with smoked sausage, cream cheese, sour cream, and shredded cheddar, then slow-cooked into a hearty, creamy casserole. It’s the perfect weeknight dinner with minimal prep and tons of flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 (16 oz) packages frozen pierogies (potato and cheese or your choice)

  • 14 oz smoked sausage, sliced

  • 1 (8 oz) block cream cheese, softened

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/4 cup chicken broth or water

  • Chopped green onions or parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Spray the inside of your crockpot with non-stick cooking spray.

  2. In a large bowl, mix together the cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, black pepper, and chicken broth until smooth.

  3. Layer half of the frozen pierogies in the crockpot.

  4. Top with half of the sliced sausage, half of the diced onions, and half of the cream cheese mixture.

  5. Repeat with the remaining pierogies, sausage, onions, and sauce.

  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.

  7. Cover and cook on low for 4–5 hours or on high for 2–3 hours, until everything is hot and the cheese is melted.

  8. Garnish with chopped green onions or parsley before serving, if desired.

Notes

  • You can swap the sausage for kielbasa or turkey sausage.

  • Add a handful of spinach or frozen peas for extra veggies.

  • If you prefer it extra cheesy, add more cheddar on top before serving.
