Description

Delightful Salisbury Steak Meatballs are a comforting and flavorful twist on the classic dish, made with tender beef meatballs simmered in a rich mushroom and onion gravy. Perfect for dinner with mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined and form into 16 small meatballs.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs and brown on all sides, about 5–7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add onions and mushrooms. Sauté for 5 minutes until softened.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the vegetables and stir for 1 minute to cook the flour.
  5. Slowly whisk in beef broth, then add ketchup and Dijon mustard. Stir and bring to a simmer.
  6. Return meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes, or until meatballs are cooked through and sauce has thickened.
  7. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles, and garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • Make ahead and reheat—the flavors get even better.
  • Leftovers store well in the fridge for up to 3 days.
