Description

This dog-friendly birthday cake is made with wholesome, pup-approved ingredients like pumpkin, peanut butter, and oat flour. It’s soft, tasty, and topped with a creamy peanut butter yogurt “frosting.” Perfect for spoiling your dog on their special day—because they deserve cake too!

Ingredients

For the Cake:

  • 1 cup oat flour (or whole wheat flour)

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce or mashed banana

  • 1/4 cup pumpkin purée (plain, not pie filling)

  • 2 tablespoons natural peanut butter (xylitol-free)

  • 1 egg

For the Frosting:

  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt

  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter (xylitol-free)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 4–6 inch round cake pan or muffin tin.

  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together oat flour and baking powder. Add in applesauce, pumpkin, peanut butter, and egg. Mix until a thick batter forms.

  3. Pour batter into the pan and smooth the top. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  4. Let cool completely on a wire rack before frosting.

  5. Make the frosting: In a small bowl, stir together yogurt and peanut butter until smooth.

  6. Frost the cooled cake and decorate with dog treats, shredded carrots, or a little bacon crumble if desired.

  7. Serve in slices and store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Notes

  • Always check with your vet before introducing new ingredients.

  • Make it a layered cake by slicing in half and spreading frosting in between!

  • You can use silicone molds to create fun shapes like bones or paw prints.
