Description

This easy chocolate truffles recipe creates rich, velvety, bite-sized treats with just a few ingredients—perfect for gifting, special occasions, or an indulgent homemade dessert.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 8 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cocoa powder, chopped nuts, or shredded coconut for rolling (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer (do not boil).
  3. Pour hot cream over the chocolate and let sit for 2–3 minutes to soften. Then stir gently until smooth and glossy.
  4. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Cover and refrigerate the mixture (ganache) for 1–2 hours until firm enough to scoop.
  6. Using a small spoon or melon baller, scoop out the ganache and roll into balls with your hands.
  7. Roll truffles in your choice of cocoa powder, chopped nuts, or coconut.
  8. Refrigerate until firm. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Use high-quality chocolate for the best texture and flavor.
  • Flavor variations: add a splash of liqueur, espresso powder, or orange zest to the ganache.
  • Truffles can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or frozen for up to 3 months.
  • Chill hands briefly or use gloves to prevent melting while rolling.
