- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- 1 small yellow onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup heavy cream or milk
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×9-inch or similar baking dish.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add chopped peppers, onion, and garlic to the skillet. Cook 5–7 minutes, until softened. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Remove from heat and stir in cream cheese until melted. Add sour cream and mix well.
- Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, and Italian seasoning. Pour over the beef mixture.
- Top evenly with provolone (and cheddar, if using).
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the casserole is set and cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Use shaved steak instead of ground beef for a more authentic flavor.
- Serve with garlic bread, a green salad, or over cooked rice for a fuller meal.
- Leftovers reheat well for meal prep.
