Description

This Easy Philly Cheese Steak Casserole combines the classic flavors of a Philly cheesesteak sandwich into a warm, hearty baked dish made with ground beef, peppers, onions, and melty cheese—perfect for a comforting family meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 small yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream or milk
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×9-inch or similar baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add chopped peppers, onion, and garlic to the skillet. Cook 5–7 minutes, until softened. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in cream cheese until melted. Add sour cream and mix well.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, and Italian seasoning. Pour over the beef mixture.
  7. Top evenly with provolone (and cheddar, if using).
  8. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the casserole is set and cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use shaved steak instead of ground beef for a more authentic flavor.
  • Serve with garlic bread, a green salad, or over cooked rice for a fuller meal.
  • Leftovers reheat well for meal prep.
