Ingredients
Scale
Spaghetti
- 8 oz spaghetti pasta
Beef Mixture
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning mix
- 1 can (10 oz) diced tomatoes with green chilies, undrained
- 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
Toppings
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional for garnish)
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Cook the spaghetti according to the package directions until al dente. Drain thoroughly and set aside to prevent overcooking.
- Prepare the Beef: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and no longer pink. Drain any excess fat if necessary to keep the dish from being greasy.
- Make the Taco Sauce: Stir in the taco seasoning mix, undrained diced tomatoes with green chilies, and tomato sauce into the skillet with the cooked beef. Allow the mixture to simmer gently for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to let the flavors meld and the sauce thicken slightly.
- Combine the Pasta and Sauce: Add the cooked spaghetti directly into the skillet with the beef and taco sauce. Toss everything together carefully to ensure the pasta is evenly coated with the flavorful sauce.
- Add the Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the spaghetti mixture in the skillet. Cover the skillet with a lid and let it sit on low heat for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Serve the taco spaghetti hot. Optionally top with dollops of sour cream, chopped green onions, and cilantro for added flavor and freshness.
