- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
- 1/2 cup whole milk, warm
- 1/4 cup water, warm
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup rainbow sprinkles
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- In another bowl, mix warm milk, warm water, melted butter, and egg. Add to dry ingredients and mix to form a dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Fold in the rainbow sprinkles gently.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Set aside.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface. Spread softened butter over the dough and sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Roll the dough tightly from the long edge and cut into 10-12 rolls.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- For the frosting, beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
- Spread the frosting over warm rolls and top with additional sprinkles if desired.
Notes
- You can make the dough the night before and let it rise in the fridge overnight.
- Feel free to adjust the amount of cinnamon and sugar in the filling to your taste.
- Use gel food coloring in the dough for extra color if desired.
