Description

These Funfetti Cinnamon Rolls are a colorful twist on the classic cinnamon roll, featuring a fluffy dough swirled with cinnamon-sugar filling and topped with a creamy vanilla glaze and rainbow sprinkles.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, warm
  • 1/4 cup water, warm
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup rainbow sprinkles
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. In another bowl, mix warm milk, warm water, melted butter, and egg. Add to dry ingredients and mix to form a dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Fold in the rainbow sprinkles gently.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Set aside.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface. Spread softened butter over the dough and sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  7. Roll the dough tightly from the long edge and cut into 10-12 rolls.
  8. Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. For the frosting, beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
  11. Spread the frosting over warm rolls and top with additional sprinkles if desired.

Notes

  • You can make the dough the night before and let it rise in the fridge overnight.
  • Feel free to adjust the amount of cinnamon and sugar in the filling to your taste.
  • Use gel food coloring in the dough for extra color if desired.
