Ingredients
Scale
Noodles
- 8 oz rice noodles (or spaghetti)
Steak and Sauce
- 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Garnish
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
Instructions
- Cook the noodles: Prepare the rice noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain well and set aside to prevent sticking.
- Sear the steak: Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced flank steak and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned and cooked to your preferred doneness. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
- Sauté garlic: Lower the heat to medium and add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter along with the minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 30 seconds until the garlic is fragrant but not browned.
- Add sauces and spices: Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Mix well to combine all the flavors.
- Toss noodles with sauce: Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and toss thoroughly to coat them evenly with the garlic butter sauce mixture.
- Combine steak and noodles: Return the seared steak to the skillet and stir to combine with the noodles. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to allow all the flavors to meld.
- Garnish and serve: Remove the skillet from heat. Sprinkle chopped green onions and sesame seeds over the top as garnish before serving hot.
Notes
- Use rice noodles or spaghetti as a substitute if rice noodles are not available.
- For a spicier dish, increase the amount of red pepper flakes according to taste.
- Make sure not to overcook the steak to keep it tender.
- This recipe can be doubled for more servings; adjust cooking times accordingly.
- Oyster sauce adds a deep umami flavor but can be substituted with hoisin sauce for a vegetarian adaptation (also omit steak).
