Description

These Homemade Crunch Bars are a sweet, crispy treat that’s easy to make and perfect for satisfying your chocolate cravings. With just a few ingredients, you can enjoy a crunchy, gooey, and chocolatey snack that’s sure to be a hit with everyone!

Ingredients

  • 4 cups rice cereal (like Rice Krispies)

  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1/2 cup peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pan:

    • Line an 8×8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.

  2. Melt the chocolate and peanut butter:

    • In a large saucepan, melt the butter and peanut butter over medium heat, stirring constantly. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in both the milk chocolate chips and semi-sweet chocolate chips. Continue stirring until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.

  3. Add the rice cereal:

    • Stir in the rice cereal until it’s fully coated with the chocolate mixture. Make sure every piece of cereal is evenly covered.

  4. Transfer to the pan:

    • Pour the chocolate-cereal mixture into the prepared baking dish. Use a spatula to press it down into an even layer. Be gentle so you don’t crush the cereal.

  5. Cool and set:

    • Allow the mixture to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or place it in the fridge for 15-20 minutes to speed up the process.

  6. Cut and serve:

    • Once the bars are set and firm, remove them from the pan and cut them into squares or rectangles. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • For an extra crunch, you can add chopped nuts like peanuts or almonds to the mixture.

  • If you prefer a thicker bar, use a smaller pan (like a 7×7-inch) for a higher, denser result.

  • These bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week or in the fridge for longer freshness.
