Description

Kool-Aid Pickles are a fun and unique twist on traditional pickles, where crisp dill pickles are soaked in a sweet and tangy Kool-Aid solution. They’re a popular snack in the South, with a burst of color and flavor that’s sure to surprise and delight!

Ingredients

  • 1 jar (32 oz) dill pickles (whole, sliced, or spears)

  • 1 packet Kool-Aid (choose your favorite flavor, like Cherry or Grape)

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 cup water

Instructions

    • Open the jar of dill pickles and drain the brine. You can either discard the brine or save it for later use.

    • Slice the pickles into spears or rounds, if desired, to make them easier to eat.

  1. Make the Kool-Aid Solution:

    • In a mixing bowl, combine the Kool-Aid packet, granulated sugar, and water. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth.

  2. Soak the Pickles:

    • Place the pickles back into the jar or another container that can hold the pickles and liquid.

    • Pour the Kool-Aid solution over the pickles, ensuring they are fully submerged. If needed, add a bit more water to cover the pickles.

  3. Refrigerate:

    • Seal the jar or container tightly and place it in the refrigerator.

    • Let the pickles soak for at least 24 hours, but for the best flavor, let them soak for 2–3 days. The longer they soak, the more intense the flavor will be.

  4. Serve:

    • Once the pickles have absorbed the Kool-Aid flavor, they are ready to enjoy! Serve them as a fun snack or a quirky side dish.

Notes

  • You can experiment with different Kool-Aid flavors, such as Tropical Punch, Blue Raspberry, or Lemon-Lime, to get different color and flavor combinations.

  • For a more tangy flavor, use less sugar or add a splash of vinegar to the Kool-Aid mixture.

  • These Kool-Aid Pickles can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
