Description

Maine Potato Candies are a traditional no-bake treat made with mashed potatoes and powdered sugar, forming a creamy dough that’s rolled with peanut butter. Sweet, nostalgic, and easy to make!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 cup mashed potatoes (plain, no seasoning)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 45 cups powdered sugar (as needed for dough consistency)
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine mashed potatoes and vanilla extract.
  2. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing until a smooth, pliable dough forms (it should not be sticky).
  3. On a surface dusted with powdered sugar, roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4-inch thick.
  4. Spread peanut butter evenly over the dough.
  5. Carefully roll the dough into a tight log, starting from one long edge.
  6. Wrap in parchment paper and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  7. Once firm, slice into 1/4-inch thick pieces and serve.

Notes

  • Use sweetened or natural peanut butter based on preference.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • Add a pinch of salt to the dough if using unsalted peanut butter.
