Description

Maple Ginger Beef is a flavorful stir-fry dish that combines tender beef strips with a sweet and tangy maple-ginger sauce, perfect for a quick and satisfying dinner.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp freshly grated ginger
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Toss the beef strips with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the beef in batches and stir-fry until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add bell pepper and onion. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until slightly tender.
  5. In a small bowl, mix maple syrup, soy sauce, rice vinegar, grated ginger, garlic, red pepper flakes, and water.
  6. Return the beef to the pan and pour the sauce over it. Toss to coat everything evenly.
  7. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the beef in a bit of soy sauce and ginger for 30 minutes before cooking.
  • Serve over rice or noodles for a complete meal.
  • Adjust the spice level by increasing or omitting the red pepper flakes.
