- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 8 small corn or flour tortillas
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- Lime wedges, for serving
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and cook until soft, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
- Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Add tomato sauce and water, stir to combine, and simmer for 5-7 minutes until thickened.
- Warm tortillas in a skillet or microwave.
- Fill each tortilla with the beef mixture.
- Top with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and cilantro.
- Serve with lime wedges on the side.
Notes
- For spicier tacos, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce.
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
