Description

Flavorful and easy-to-make Mexican ground beef tacos, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a festive taco night.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and cook until soft, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  4. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
  5. Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  6. Add tomato sauce and water, stir to combine, and simmer for 5-7 minutes until thickened.
  7. Warm tortillas in a skillet or microwave.
  8. Fill each tortilla with the beef mixture.
  9. Top with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and cilantro.
  10. Serve with lime wedges on the side.

  • For spicier tacos, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
