Ingredients
Scale
Meat and Seasonings
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Liquids and Dairy
- 3 cups beef broth
- 2 cups milk
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Pasta and Garnish
- 12 ounces pasta (penne or rotini)
- ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Brown the Beef: In a large skillet or pot, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed to avoid greasiness.
- Add Garlic and Seasoning: Add the minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper to the browned beef. Cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
- Simmer Pasta in Broth and Milk: Stir in the beef broth, milk, and uncooked pasta. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat to low. Cover the pot and simmer for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed.
- Finish with Cheese and Cream: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, heavy cream, and unsalted butter into the cooked pasta and beef mixture. Cook for an additional 2–3 minutes, stirring continuously until the sauce turns creamy and smooth.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat. If desired, sprinkle chopped fresh parsley on top for a pop of color and fresh flavor. Serve the pasta hot for best taste.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or sausage for the beef to vary the protein.
- Adding spinach or mushrooms is a great way to boost the vegetable content.
- For a cheesier dish, stir in shredded mozzarella before serving for extra melty goodness.
