Description

A quick and flavorful one-pot teriyaki noodle dish featuring tender shredded cabbage, carrots, and a savory-sweet teriyaki sauce. This easy recipe combines spaghetti noodles with classic Asian-inspired seasonings, all cooked together in a single pot for minimal cleanup and maximum taste.

Ingredients

Scale

Vegetables

  • 1/2 green cabbage, shredded
  • 2 carrots, shredded

Sauce & Seasonings

  • 2/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Other

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 16 oz spaghetti (1 pound box)
  • 3 1/2 cups water (plus extra 1/2 cup if needed)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Sauté Vegetables: Heat a large pot over medium-high heat. Add olive oil, then the shredded cabbage and carrots. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables become tender and slightly softened.
  2. Add Sauce Ingredients: Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, ground mustard, ground ginger, and garlic powder into the pot with the vegetables. Mix everything thoroughly to combine.
  3. Cook Noodles: Add the spaghetti and 3 1/2 cups of water to the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium. Cook uncovered for 15 to 18 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. If the noodles absorb too much liquid before becoming tender, add up to an additional 1/2 cup of water as needed. Continue until noodles are fully cooked and the sauce has thickened.
  4. Finish and Serve: Remove the pot from heat. Toss in the sesame seeds and mix well. Serve immediately, optionally garnished with extra sesame seeds and chopped green onions for added flavor and texture.

Notes

  • You can substitute spaghetti with other thin noodles like linguine or egg noodles if preferred.
  • Adjust brown sugar according to your taste preference for sweetness.
  • For a vegan version, confirm that the soy sauce used is vegan-friendly.
  • Add protein such as tofu, chicken, or shrimp by cooking it separately and mixing it in at the end.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
