Description

This easy and flavorful twist on classic shrimp cocktail features shrimp roasted in the oven with a savory Old Bay seasoning. Perfectly tender and juicy, these shrimp are paired with a zesty cocktail sauce for a delicious appetizer or party dish.

Ingredients

For the Shrimp:

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • Lemon wedges, for serving

For the Cocktail Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup ketchup

  • 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish (or more for extra heat)

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • Dash of hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Shrimp:

    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

    • In a large bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.

    • Spread the seasoned shrimp in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.

    • Roast the shrimp in the preheated oven for 6-8 minutes, or until they are pink, opaque, and cooked through (be careful not to overcook them).

  • Make the Cocktail Sauce:

    • While the shrimp are roasting, combine the ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce (if using) in a small bowl. Stir well to combine.

    • Taste and adjust the seasoning by adding more horseradish or hot sauce, depending on your preference.

  • Serve:

    • Once the shrimp are done, remove them from the oven and arrange them on a serving platter.

    • Serve the roasted shrimp with the cocktail sauce on the side and garnish with lemon wedges.

Notes

  • If you prefer, you can also grill or pan-sear the shrimp instead of roasting them.

  • For extra flavor, you can toss the shrimp with some fresh chopped parsley before serving.
