Description

This rich and creamy peanut satay sauce is the perfect accompaniment to grilled meats, vegetables, or as a dipping sauce for spring rolls. With a balanced blend of savory, sweet, and tangy flavors, it’s a deliciously versatile addition to your meals.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or lime juice)

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional, for heat)

  • 1/4 cup coconut milk (or water for a lighter version)

  • 1 tablespoon warm water (to adjust consistency)

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the peanut butter, soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, ginger, and chili flakes (if using).

  • Slowly add the coconut milk and continue whisking until the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.

  • If the sauce is too thick, add the warm water a little at a time to reach your desired consistency.

  • Taste and adjust seasoning if needed—add more sugar for sweetness, soy sauce for saltiness, or lime juice for extra tang.

  • Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

Notes

  • If you prefer a spicier sauce, increase the chili flakes or add a dash of hot sauce.

  • For a nuttier flavor, use crunchy peanut butter.

  • You can also use almond butter or cashew butter as a variation.

  • This sauce can be used for dipping, drizzling over grilled chicken, tofu, or vegetables, or as a salad dressing.
