Description

Philly Cheesesteak Garlic Bread takes the classic garlic bread to the next level by adding sautéed steak, peppers, onions, and loads of melted cheese. It’s the perfect combination of garlic bread and Philly cheesesteak, making it a great appetizer or a fun twist on dinner!

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread or Italian baguette

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For the Philly Cheesesteak Topping:

  • 1 lb thinly sliced beef steak (like ribeye or flank steak)

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced

  • 1 small bell pepper, thinly sliced (green, red, or a mix)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 8 oz provolone cheese or American cheese, sliced or shredded

  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise (optional, for extra creaminess)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Prepare the garlic butter: In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper until smooth and well combined.

  3. Prepare the bread: Slice the French loaf or baguette in half lengthwise. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.

  4. Bake the bread: Place the bread halves, cut side up, on a baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the bread is crispy.

Prepare the Philly Cheesesteak Topping:

  1. Cook the steak: While the bread is baking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced steak to the skillet, cooking for about 3-4 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.

  2. Sauté the vegetables: In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and bell pepper. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened and slightly caramelized. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  3. Combine the steak and veggies: Add the cooked steak back into the skillet with the vegetables and toss to combine. If using, stir in the mayonnaise for extra creaminess.

Assemble the Philly Cheesesteak Garlic Bread:

  1. Top the garlic bread: Once the garlic bread is done, remove it from the oven. Spoon the steak and veggie mixture evenly over the garlic bread.

  2. Add the cheese: Layer the sliced or shredded provolone cheese (or American cheese) on top of the steak mixture. Return the bread to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve:

  1. Slice and serve: Remove from the oven, slice into individual pieces, and serve hot. Enjoy your Philly Cheesesteak Garlic Bread!

Notes

  • You can use hoagie rolls or sandwich buns instead of the loaf of bread for individual sandwiches.

  • Feel free to customize with extra toppings like sautéed mushrooms or jalapeños for added flavor and heat.

  • For a healthier option, you can substitute the mayonnaise with a little bit of cream cheese or leave it out entirely.
