Description

Steak Fingers are crispy, golden strips of tenderized steak coated in seasoned flour and fried to perfection—served with creamy gravy or dipping sauce for a satisfying Southern-style comfort food.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb cube steak or tenderized round steak
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Cut steak into thin strips, about 1-inch wide and 3–4 inches long.
  2. In a shallow bowl, whisk together buttermilk and egg. In another bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dip each steak strip into the buttermilk mixture, then dredge in the seasoned flour. Repeat for extra crunch by double dipping if desired.
  4. Heat 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry steak fingers in batches for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Serve hot with country gravy, ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For extra tenderness, lightly pound cube steak before cutting.
  • Keep cooked steak fingers warm in a 200°F oven while frying remaining batches.
