- 8 cups plain popped popcorn
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 (3 oz) package strawberry-flavored gelatin
- 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place the popped popcorn in a large mixing bowl, removing any unpopped kernels.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
- Stir in the sugar, strawberry gelatin, corn syrup, and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
- Once boiling, continue to cook for 3–4 minutes without stirring.
- Remove from heat and immediately pour the strawberry mixture over the popcorn. Stir to coat evenly.
- Spread the coated popcorn onto the prepared baking sheet in an even layer.
- Bake for 10 minutes, stirring halfway through to prevent burning.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool completely. Break into clusters and serve.
Notes
- Use a silicone spatula to stir the popcorn to avoid sticking.
- Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
- Try using different flavored gelatins for variety.
