Description

Sweet & Spicy Ramen Noodles is a quick and flavorful Asian-inspired dish featuring perfectly cooked instant ramen noodles tossed in a deliciously balanced sauce made from soy sauce, brown sugar, sriracha, garlic, and ginger. This easy stovetop recipe offers a perfect blend of sweet, spicy, and savory flavors and can be customized with your favorite proteins and veggies.

Ingredients

Scale

Noodles

  • 2 (3 oz) packs instant ramen noodles (discard seasoning packets)

Sauce & Aromatics

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Garnish

  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook Noodles: Cook the instant ramen noodles according to package instructions, omitting the seasoning packets. Once cooked, drain the noodles and set them aside.
  2. Sauté Aromatics: Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet or wok over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned.
  3. Make Sauce: Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, sriracha, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes into the skillet. Let the sauce simmer for 1 to 2 minutes allowing it to slightly thicken and blend flavors.
  4. Toss Noodles in Sauce: Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and toss them thoroughly so they are evenly coated with the sauce. Continue cooking for another 1 to 2 minutes until the noodles are heated through.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Serve immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • For extra protein, add cooked shrimp, chicken, or tofu.
  • Incorporate steamed vegetables such as broccoli, bell peppers, or snap peas for added nutrition and texture.
  • Adjust the amount of sriracha and red pepper flakes to match your preference for heat.
