Description

A hearty and flavorful vegan black bean burger made with wholesome ingredients, perfect for a healthy lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 (15-ounce) cans black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for cooking)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth with some chunks for texture.
  2. Add breadcrumbs, red onion, cilantro, garlic, cumin, smoked paprika, chili powder, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Form the mixture into 4-5 burger patties, pressing firmly to help them hold together.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  5. Cook the patties for 4–5 minutes on each side or until browned and heated through.
  6. Serve on buns with your favorite vegan toppings and condiments.

Notes

  • Use gluten-free breadcrumbs and tamari for a gluten-free version.
  • Chill the patties for 30 minutes before cooking to help them firm up.
  • Can be baked at 375°F (190°C) for 20 minutes, flipping halfway.
